GALACTIC LEGACY: A STAR WARS D6 RPG STORY – EPISODE 1: THE BEGINNING (PART 5)
“Fly,” Jhok said, motioning out to space. He wanted to get clear of the Corr-Ess-Ahnt, the Great Big Village World, before attracting the wrong kind of attention. He wasn’t 100% clear on what was going on, but he knew that the stern looking wrinkly leader wanted them to find something. He’d picked up enough Basic to understand that bad people were hurting some friends of his new friends, and he wasn’t going to put up with that. His village elders had always taken pride in the fact that their brave warriors would help defend allies against all comers, going all the way back to when his ancestor Teebo was instrumental in the battle to destroy the Cold Metal Moon. If the great hero Teebo could lead his Human friends in bringing down the Cold Metal Moon and killing Tribe Empire’s Storm Warriors, Jhok could certainly help them defend their friends. He did think it odd that his friends seemed to be on the same side as Tribe Empire; but, as his grandfather Nukil used to say, necessity makes strange village-mates.
The other SPECTRUM members agreed with Jhok. Getting off Coruscant and into the area where the Sith/pirates/whoever were operating might develop more leads. Anything beat hanging around the Alliance with Captain Bey glaring at them. He was a Weequay of action. He wanted his SPECTRUM forces out in the Galaxy proving themselves… or at least away from the not-quite-convinced-of-their-usefulness eyes of Moffs Yage and Fehlaaur, Administrator Chalk, and Senators Yortuba and Valrrarrcha.
Loaded aboard the Shady Lady, with Mykar and Tikkit behind the controls and Forks plugged into the ship’s systems, the operatives made the jump to Malastare. The forested planet was busy with interstellar travelers and merchants. Its strategic location on the Hydian Way ensured that a good percentage of cargo bound for the Outer Rim passed through Malastare. Setting the ship down in a bay at Pixelito spaceport, Mykar saw a Dug waiting for them in the access tunnel. It shouldn’t have surprised him. As soon as the Shady Lady was picked up by the port’s sensors, his old associate Bulraba would have had to come and see him. They’d worked together before, back when Mykar was running blasters for the Alliance Remnant.
“Mykar!” the Dug called out as soon as the ship’s hatch opened. “Good to see you, old friend! It’s been a long time since the Shady Lady was seen in these parts! Looking for a good deal on some blasters? I’ve got a pallet full of second hand Sith Empire ARC-9965’s; never been fired and no serial numbers. Just tell me what you need, and I can get you a great deal!”
Agent Choe’s interest was engaged by the Dug smuggler. She seemed to understand the art of the deal, which put her on good footing with Choe. Having possession of stolen BlasTech Industries weapons was interesting, as well. Freewater Investments held a large (though not controlling) interest in BlasTech.
Lott didn’t even need to access his Force abilities to know that the Dug was a dangerous customer. Under her cheerful, friendly demeanor lurked a calculating and mercenary mind. The same things that Choe thought made Bulraba a useful potential contact made Lott find her a distasteful and untrustworthy being, with whom he’d be very careful in his dealings. The sooner the group was done with Bulraba the better, as far as the Jedi was concerned.
Tikkit knew Bulraba by reputation, but had never met her. She was known as one of the best “fixers” on Malastare. If there was a deal to be made, that needed to be brokered away from the eyes of officialdom, Bulraba was the one to see. She’d helped supply arms, supplies, even ships to the Alliance Fleet, though always at a price.
Jhok had seen the forests out the viewports as the ship had made final approach to the spaceport. It made him a little homesick, though the trees here weren’t as tall or dense as those back home. This new alien was loud, and seemed fake cheerful, like his Uncle Warrho. Warrho was all smiles and good cheer, right up until he cheated you out of your hard-picked pail of marbleberries. He’d also never seen anyone walk on their hands and use their feet to gesture with. It was odd, and a bit disconcerting. It made Jhok wish he’d had his spear with him instead of in his bunk. He didn’t exactly hide, but he made sure most of his body was behind Forks’ study metal body, just in case.

Before anyone else could say or do anything, Choe felt the comlink in his jacket pocket vibrate. The quick long-short-short-long vibration pattern told him it was Commander Dahl, Rogue Leader, using the special direct link he’d given her.
